The identity of individuals is of great importance in society.

On the outside, people are identified by their national IDs, passports, fingerprints, dental records, and DNA, among other means.

For instance, DNA evidence has exonerated prisoners after many years of serving jail time, as fresh evidence revealed they were innocent.

On the inside, people are identified by their state of heart, whether they’re born again or not. As we shall see, the identity of a sinner is different from the identity of a saved person.

We experience an identity crisis at some point in our lives due to what is happening inside us. We’re expected to figure out who we are and why we’re here in the sea of people walking the earth.

Do you know your identity as a human being and as a Christian?

Growing up, I had different episodes of identity crisis, but I didn’t understand what was happening. Twice, I almost quit school. Several times, I felt useless, lost, and ugly.

Other times, being a Christian made little sense. I had many questions about the meaning of life, the assurance of God’s love for me, and I struggled with sin.

Everything changed when I understood who I am in Christ. You too can be sure of your identity.
